The Environmental Working Group just released the 2014 list of the 12 fruits and vegetables with high concentrations of pesticides, also known as the EWG’s Dirty Dozen™. As always, it is recommended to buy organic produce whenever possible. However, with the lists below, you are able to make the best educated decisions.
The 2014 fruits and veggies with the MOST pesticides:
- Sweet Bell Peppers
- Imported Nectarines
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Imported Snap Peas
Each of the above foods contained a higher level of pesticides when compared to other produce.
The EWG also releases an annual report of the 15 produce items that contain the least amount of pesticides, known as EWG’s Clean Fifteen™.
The 2014 fruits and veggies with the LEAST pesticides:
- Avocados (collective sigh)
- Sweet Corn
- Frozen Sweet Peas
- Sweet Potatoes
