The Environmental Working Group recently released the 2015 list of the 12 fruits and vegetables with high concentrations of pesticides, also known as the EWG’s Dirty Dozen™. As always, it is recommended to buy organic produce whenever possible. However, with the lists below, you are able to make the best educated decisions.
The 2015 fruits and veggies with the MOST pesticides:
- Sweet bell peppers
- Cherry tomatoes
- Imported Snap peas
Each of the above foods contained a higher level of pesticides when compared to other produce. In addition, the EWG added a few items to the list and created the Dirty Dozen PLUS. These additional items are leafy greens/kale and hot peppers.
The EWG also releases an annual report of the 15 produce items that contain the least amount of pesticides, known as EWG’s Clean Fifteen™.
The 2015 fruits and veggies with the LEAST pesticides:
- Sweet corn
- Frozen Sweet peas
