Everyone is trying to save a little money these days, right? Here are 5 things to stop wasting your money on:
1. Expensive date nights
Frustrated when dinner out can cost $50 and up? Pack a picnic with a bottle of wine and head to the local park. You can even double (or triple) date with friends and you don’t even have to worry about finding those elusive Saturday night reservations.
2. Babysitters
Have an event from 5-8pm? Or want to go out for an early date night? Find another family with the same goal and pick a few nights over the summer to use a childcare co-op.
3. Books
Use your local library! Not only do you cut down on clutter, but you save mucho dinero by not buying new books. Many libraries even have digital downloads that you can read on your Kindle and iPad – that’s right, FOR FREE (unless, of course, you can’t get books back on time, tsk, tsk).
4. Pricey family outings
Take a break from spots that charge admission (water parks, museums, sporting events, etc.) and have a park day with the kids. Pack a lunch, bring a sunshade, throw in the scooters and make a day of it!
5. Full price clothing
Shop consignment sales or garage sales. Save nearly 80% on clothing and other household items. Need summer dinnerware, kid’s gear or seasonal clothing? Most resale shops stock seasonal items that can save you loads of money.
