Many say that age is a state of mind, and Agnes Zhelesnik is definitely young at heart! At age 102, she is the oldest teacher in America. Her students and co-workers affectionately call her “Granny, ” and they love the knowledge, skills, and heart that this teacher brings to school every day. Surprised that she is still working at 102? Vicki Little is a work-at-home mom with two young kids. A Colorado native, she is the Publisher and Editor of Macaroni Kid Aurora and Downtown Denver. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, reading, camping, or enjoying a bottle of wine with friends.

    Such an inspiring woman! Those children sure are blessed by her, and in return, she is blessed by them. We need more like her in this world! I hope I can do that when I’m her age, God willing. I do think that is the secret to “staying young!”

    Thanks for this video. Agnes is an inspiration to me whenever I think, at age 73 and a substitute teacher in a grades 3 through 5 building, that I’m too old for school. Some kids are noisy and want to be social when they are supposed to be learning, but a lot of them seem to like having an older teacher around. The little girls especially find it reassuring when a granny is the sub. And little girls grow up to be teachers.
