This Fourth of July, head to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival Opening Day Bike Parade with Mayor Michael B. Hancock!
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival will kick off at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Bike Corral at 2nd Avenue and Steele Street with an inaugural Bike Parade & Opening Day Ceremony led by Mayor Michael B. Hancock.
Families are invited to come dressed in patriotic clothes with decorated bikes. Mayor Hancock will lead the bike parade through the streets of Cherry Creek North and end at 10 a.m. at the Main Stage at the Blue Moon Beer Garden on St. Paul Street, where he will choose the Most Patriotic Festival Patron. Following the Opening Day Ceremony, families can take part in a cooking demo at 11 a.m. at the Art Institute of Colorado’s Culinary Demonstration Stage. Dennis Taylor, the chef and program coordinator for Cooking Matters Colorado, will be leading kids in making veggie quesadillas with a kale and lime pesto.On Friday, and throughout the Festival weekend, July 4, 5, and 6, families can visit Frontier Airline’s Artivity Avenue, where they will make KOSI spin art, ceramics with the Colorado Potters, animal collages with Frontier Airlines animals, create-your-own “glass” and printmaking art pieces, and tie-dye flowers and butterflies with Paddington Station Preschool.
