7 Habits of Highly Productive Moms

highly productive mom 2

It’s no surprise that economists put the value of a mom’s job at well over $100, 000 per year. After all, moms are short-order chefs, chauffeurs, inventory managers, nurses, counselors, accountants and household CEOs that generally keep the family bus rolling. And with the holidays around the corner, there’s even more to the job. What are some tricks to this valuable trade? We asked several moms and came up with the following list of 7 Habits of Highly Productive Moms:

1. Wake up early

We know, it may sound impossible. However, those first quiet moments of morning before the kiddos wake up can be yours to get organized and plan your day.

2. Tackle your hardest task first

Get that one thing you are dreading out of the way. If you get nothing else done that day, you can still feel like you accomplished something important. It will also make the rest of your day seem less challenging.

3. Prepare as much as possible the night before

Look at your calendar, make a list of to-dos, prepare daycare/school items, check out the forecast, and pick out clothes for the next day. The more you do, the less stressful the day will begin.

4. Coordinate family calendars

Take time each week to plan the family calendar. Coordinate schedules and make sure everyone is on the same page before the week begins.

5. Plan your meals for the week

This includes grocery shopping and light prepping on Sunday afternoon. This is an incredible time-saver. Not only are you ready with meals, you can avoid the “What’s for dinner?” game in your household.

6. Set your routine

In stone. Do the same thing every morning, in order, so everyone can get out the door on time, and with everything they need. Repeat this in the evening with a set dinnertime, homework time and bedtime.

7. Take time for yourself

Schedule “you” time every day. Talk with a friend on the phone, exercise, or simply do something that makes you happy. It’s important to take time for yourself everyday, even if it’s just a few minutes.
