You will need a tart pan with a removable bottom. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Mix together then add:
3/4 cup flour (slowly)
2/3 cup chopped pecans
Press into your tart pan, make sure the bottom and sides are covered.

Filling:

8 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Mix until smooth and then pour into shell.

Topping:

1 large can of pears – slice thinly
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Add pear slices and toss until lightly coated. Place the pears in concentric circles on top starting at the outside. Continue with a second row overlapping the first row by about one inch. Continue until the top is full of pears, using small pieces to fill the center.

Baking & Serving:

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes and then reduce temperature to 400 degrees to bake for an additional 25 minutes. Let cool for 45 minutes then remove outside rim of pan. Serve at room temperature.
